More Money Saving Tips
In the March, 2008 issue of “O” (The Oprah Magazine), there is a great article written by Anne Kadet titled, “31 Solid-Gold Ways to Save – Without Giving Up Your Latte.” This article provides some great money saving tips and I’d like to share some of those ideas with you here:
- Buy the smaller package: Apparently some supermarkets and drugstores charge more per unit for the supersize product. Be sure to check out the cost per unit before buying that supposedly cost saving bulk size item.
- Swap your used books: Check out www.bookmooch.com to swap your used books. This is a great site! You can also swap books in other languages and they donate to charity as well.
- Ticket Clubs: in larger cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, online ticket distributor Goldstar (www.goldstar.com) helps theaters and clubs get rid of unsold seats by offering last minute discounts to its members (oftentimes for ½ the usual price).
- Email your text message: It’s free to send your text messages to a cell phone from your computer. Just type your friend’s cell phone address in the “to” box in the email header. For Verizon wireless customers, the address is the number@vtext.com; for AT&T, number@txt.att.net; for T-Mobile, number@tmomail.net; for Sprint, number@messaging.sprintpcs.com.
- Check the price by phone: There is a way to find out if a store’s sale price is a good deal. Just call 888-DO-FRUCALL and type in the bar code number of the product in question. Frucall’s free service will tell you the range of prices that online retailers charge for the same item.
